Bochum shocks Bayer in Leverkusen style
The last team of the Bundesliga picked up their second point in the current season, shocking Bayer. In many ways, Bochum's game was influenced by the arrival of a new coach - Dieter Hecking took over at the beginning of the week.
Bayer opened the scoring midway through the first half when Patrik Schick headed the ball into the net from the right post.
Jeremy Frimpong should have sealed the visitors' advantage and closed the match, but his shot from the centre was deflected by Bochum goalkeeper Patrick Dreves. After the break Frimpong beat the goalkeeper, but did it from the offside.
The hosts played in Bayer's style, equalising in the 90th minute. Koji Miyoshi shocked the visitors with an effective late strike - 1:1.
