Can's red card helped Mainz defeat Borussia Dortmund

Mainz - Borussia D 3:1

In the tenth round of the German Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund travelled to Mainz.

The game was strongly influenced by the red card of veteran guest Emre Can already in the 27th minute. It took Mainz less than ten minutes to turn their advantage into goals. After a cross from Antoni Kassi, Jae-Sung Lee headed the ball into the corner past the goalkeeper.

Borussia soon got back into the game. Seru Girassi found a gap in Mainz's defence. However, the hosts took the lead again in stoppage time. Jonatan Burkardt headed the ball into the back of the net with a superb shot.

At the start of the second half, Mainz sealed the deal. Paul Nebel was helped by a ricochet against the goalkeeper. 3:1 - victory for Mainz.
