Ajax have officially announced the return of their classic club crest

Amsterdam giants Ajax have officially announced the return of their classic club crest, marking a historic shift in branding.

The current logo, introduced in 1991, will be retired, making way for the return of the 1928 emblem that defined the club for decades. The move coincides with Ajax's 125th anniversary celebrations on March 18, 2025, highlighting the club's rich history and deep connection with its fans.

A Tribute to Tradition and Identity

Speaking about the decision, Ajax CEO Menno Geelen explained:

"Our 125th anniversary is the perfect moment to fulfill the long-standing wish of our fans to bring back the classic crest. This is not just about nostalgia; it reflects a return to the core values and DNA that define Ajax."

Geelen emphasized that the club thrives when it remains true to its identity:

"History shows that we are at our best when we honor our roots. This return to the classic logo represents our commitment to our legacy while serving as inspiration for the future."

Official Use from 2025/26

The classic Ajax crest will officially debut with the 2025/26 season, adorning the kits and branding of one of football’s most storied clubs.
