Ayoze Pérez to Miss Emotional Homecoming on Tenerife

Villarreal forward Ayoze Pérez will be sidelined for Spain's final UEFA Nations League group stage match against Switzerland due to an injury.

Injury Halts Pérez's Stellar Form

The striker suffered a knock during Spain’s recent 2-1 victory over Denmark, a match in which Pérez delivered an outstanding performance with a goal and an assist. Given that Spain has already secured their place in the quarterfinals, the decision to rest Pérez is seen as a precautionary measure.

However, the timing couldn’t be more unfortunate for the 30-year-old, as the game is set to be played on his home island of Tenerife, where he was born and began his football journey.

A Rare Match on the Canary Islands

This clash marks Spain's first competitive fixture on the Canary Islands since 1996. Tenerife holds a special place in Spanish football, with another national team star, Pedri, also hailing from the island.
