Formula 1

Starting from the 2026 Formula 1 season, the championship will welcome an additional team, marking a significant expansion of the grid. According to Racingnews365, an agreement has been reached, with an official announcement expected before the Qatar Grand Prix on December 1.

Andretti Finally Secures a Spot

Reports suggest that the new team will be the long-discussed Andretti Global, the American racing outfit led by Michael Andretti, son of F1 legend Mario Andretti. Andretti has been pushing for a spot in Formula 1 for years, backed by a strong partnership with General Motors' Cadillac.

Last October, the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) approved Andretti’s application, but it faced resistance from Formula 1’s commercial rights holders and several existing teams. Concerns over revenue sharing and maintaining the exclusivity of the championship had previously stalled the entry.

A Boost for F1's American Audience

If the announcement is confirmed, Andretti's arrival will signal a significant boost for Formula 1’s growing popularity in the United States. With three Grand Prix races already held stateside—in Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas—the inclusion of an American team could further ignite interest in the sport.
