Simone Inzaghi

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi expressed his delight after his side's 1-0 victory over RB Leipzig secured them the top spot in the overall standings of the Champions League league phase.

"Of course, we are pleased with the result because we understood how important tonight’s game was," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia. "It’s true that Leipzig have no points in the table, but until last Saturday, they were second in the Bundesliga with the best defensive record in the league. They have plenty of quality and discipline."

Finding Balance Against Aggression

Inzaghi praised his team’s ability to maintain composure against Leipzig’s high-intensity pressing game. "We had to keep our balance, which wasn’t easy against a very aggressive team. The only issue was that we didn’t score a second goal, but apart from one save from Yann Sommer, we were rarely troubled defensively."

Inter’s Road Ahead

Despite the strong position, Inzaghi remains cautious about the challenges ahead. "It’s great to be top, but we know there’s still a lot of work to do to secure a place in the quarterfinals. Matches against Bayer Leverkusen, Sparta Prague, and Monaco will be just as tough."

Four Clean Sheets in a Row

Inter’s latest win marks their fourth consecutive victory across all competitions without conceding a goal. Inzaghi highlighted the significance of this defensive resilience. "Winning four games in a row without conceding is a great feeling, especially given the caliber of the opponents we’ve faced."
