The 28-year-old winger played a pivotal role in PSG’s maiden Champions League triumph

UEFA has officially named Ousmane Dembélé as the 2024/25 Champions League Player of the Season following his electrifying campaign with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 28-year-old winger played a pivotal role in PSG’s maiden Champions League triumph, finishing as the club’s top scorer with eight goals. His standout moments included a crucial opener in the dramatic comeback win over Manchester City in Matchday 7, a stunning hat-trick away at VfB Stuttgart in Matchday 8, and match-winning strikes against Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout stages.

UEFA’s panel of technical observers praised Dembélé not just for his goals, but for his all-around leadership and relentless work rate:

“As well as his eight goals, Dembélé has taken on the role of a leader in the Paris Saint-Germain team, as we saw in the final with how he worked so hard, pressing from the front. On top of that, he created doubts for their opponents match after match with his clever movement, dropping deep to give his team superiority in the midfield.”

With the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony set for September 22 in Paris, Dembélé is now the leading contender to take home the most prestigious individual award in world football. The list of official nominees is expected to be announced in August.
