Ángel Di Maria

Benfica has decided to extend Ángel Di Maria’s contract for another year, ensuring the Argentine star remains with the club beyond the current season, according to CNN.

2024-25, Liga Portugal: Standings

Di Maria rejoined Benfica in the summer of 2023, just six months after winning the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar. The original two-year deal was set to expire this coming summer, but the 36-year-old’s impressive form has convinced the club to keep him for an additional season. With 11 goals already this campaign and consistently impactful performances, Di Maria remains a key figure for the Lisbon side.

For Di Maria, Benfica holds a special place in his career. It was his first European club (2007-2010), and his success there paved the way for a stellar journey that included spells at Real Madrid and other top clubs.

The club is expected to make an official announcement about the contract extension soon, cementing Di Maria’s continued role in their plans for the future.
