The seventh-round group stage match of the Champions League against Bologna could be the last for Borussia Dortmund's head coach, Nuri Şahin, if his team loses to the Italians. This is being reported by the German press.

Şahin arrived in Bologna with a sword of Damocles hanging over his head. Three consecutive defeats in the German Bundesliga have dropped the team to 10th place in the standings, with a 20-point gap from league leaders Bayern Munich. However, Dortmund has surprisingly been performing well in European competitions—they currently sit in ninth place in their group with a strong chance of directly advancing to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Interestingly, Borussia will conclude their group stage matches against teams from the lower part of the table—Bologna on January 21 and Shakhtar on January 29.
