Arne Slot Matches Hansi Flick's Record in Champions League
Liverpool secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Lille in the seventh round of the UEFA Champions League, with head coach Arne Slot achieving a significant milestone in the process.
According to Opta Sport, Slot has now equaled the record set by German tactician Hansi Flick, becoming only the second manager in history to win his first seven Champions League matches with a new team.
Flick originally set this benchmark with Bayern Munich during the 2019/20 campaign, a season in which the Bavarian giants went on to win all 11 matches en route to lifting the trophy. With four more wins needed to surpass Flick’s feat, Slot still has work to do.
Currently, Liverpool sits atop the overall Champions League group stage standings with a perfect 21 points, showcasing their dominance under the Dutchman’s leadership.
