His final club was his boyhood team

The great Brazilian defender Marcelo has hung up his boots at the age of 36. His final club was his boyhood team, Fluminense.

During his 15-year tenure with Real Madrid, Marcelo won 25 major trophies, becoming a club legend and setting a record for the most titles in the club’s history. However, in 2024, he was surpassed by three of his teammates—Luka Modrić, Dani Carvajal, and Nacho.

On the international stage, Marcelo also made his mark, winning a silver medal with the Brazil national team at the 2012 Olympics.

He was named to the FIFA World XI six times, further solidifying his status as one of the best defenders in the world.

In total, Marcelo played 663 matches, scoring 52 goals and providing 106 assists, leaving behind an incredible legacy both at club and international level.
