Reports: Lewandowski's Contract with Barcelona Extended for Another Season
According to Spanish media, Robert Lewandowski has met the required number of appearances to trigger an automatic contract extension with Barcelona. The Polish striker played the full 90 minutes in yesterday's 2-0 victory over Las Palmas, a result that propelled Barça back to the top of La Liga.
As reported by Sport, Lewandowski's contract included a clause that allowed Barcelona to terminate the deal at the end of the 2024-25 season if he failed to play at least 55% of the team's matches. However, the 36-year-old has been a consistent starter under manager Hans-Dieter Flick, and his extension until 2026 was automatically activated following the win against Las Palmas.
Since joining Barcelona, Lewandowski has been a prolific scorer, netting 91 goals in 130 appearances. This season, he is on track to surpass his previous best tally of 33 goals in the 2022-23 campaign, currently sitting just one goal shy of that mark.
