Lunin Gives Real Madrid an Ultimatum Over Playing Time
Andriy Lunin has made it clear he is not willing to spend another season on the bench with uncertain prospects for the future. The Real Madrid goalkeeper has reportedly told the club's management that if his playing time doesn't increase, he will look for a new club in the summer, according to DefensaCentral.
There will undoubtedly be options for Lunin—after all, last summer several top clubs were reportedly ready to enter negotiations for the Ukrainian. However, Real Madrid convinced him to stay by offering a new contract. But for Lunin, that didn't change much: in terms of his career development, this season has largely been a write-off.
So far this season, Lunin has made 8 appearances across all competitions, conceding 11 goals and keeping 3 clean sheets. He also registered one assist, a feat no Real Madrid goalkeeper had achieved in La Liga for over 30 years. But despite these performances, Lunin remains firmly behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order and is unlikely to see significant playing time anytime soon.
