Simone Inzaghi: "I Haven’t Seen a Player Like Yamal in Years"
Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi expressed pride in his team's performance following a thrilling 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final — but admitted some frustration after letting a two-goal lead slip away.
"We are very satisfied because we played really well," Inzaghi told reporters. "Of course, there's some regret because we lost a two-goal advantage, but we know we delivered a great performance against the best team in the world. We showed real quality and played with heart. Barcelona have scored 150 goals this season, but we were very well organized."
The Italian manager also highlighted the influence of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who scored a stunning goal on his 100th appearance for Barça and was involved in the build-up to a second.
"We tried to adjust tactically, but then Yamal made his presence felt. I haven’t seen a player like him in many years," Inzaghi admitted. "Even when we went ahead again, time and fatigue took their toll — but we still showed great quality on the pitch."
The second leg of the Champions League semi-final between Barcelona and Inter Milan is set for next week at the iconic Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
