Arda Turan to Become New Head Coach of Shakhtar Donetsk
Fabrizio Romano reports that Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk are set to appoint former Turkish international Arda Turan as their new head coach, replacing Marino Pušić after two successful seasons at the helm.
"Arda Turan will sign in as new Shakhtar Donetsk manager in the next days," Romano revealed. "Understand the contract will be valid until June 2027."
The 37-year-old Turan is best known for his playing days at Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, and the Turkey national team. He only began his coaching career in 2023, taking charge of Turkish side Eyüpspor, where he quickly earned praise for his tactical acumen and leadership, guiding the team to one of their strongest seasons in recent memory.
Turan’s appointment marks a bold and ambitious move by Shakhtar, as the club looks to refresh its project after disappointing season in Ukrainian Premier League (UPL). He replaces Marino Pušić, who led Shakhtar to one UPL title and two Ukrainian Cup triumphs over his two-year stint.
