The football world now has a date to circle on the calendar — the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place on September 22 at the prestigious Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The list of nominees across all categories will be officially revealed on August 7.

This year’s awards will feature a total of 30 male and 30 female players vying for the sport’s most coveted individual honour. In addition to the Ballon d’Or itself, several other major accolades will be presented:

  • Kopa Trophy – Best player under the age of 21
  • Yashin Trophy – Best goalkeeper
  • Johan Cruyff Trophy – Best coach
  • Gerd Müller Award – Top goalscorer of the year

For the first time in history, all individual awards will be presented to both male and female winners, marking a significant move toward greater gender equality in football’s global honours landscape.

The 2025 ceremony is also taking place one month earlier than usual, a decision organizers say reflects a commitment to aligning the awards more closely with the footballing calendar and giving equal prominence to the women’s game.
