Leicester City have officially parted ways with head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, bringing a swift end to a short and turbulent chapter in the club’s recent history.

The Dutchman was appointed mid-season as a crisis manager, tasked with turning around a sinking ship. But instead of salvation, the Foxes spiraled further, finishing the campaign a staggering 13 points adrift of safety and suffering a painful run of eight straight defeats.

Perhaps the most damning indictment of Van Nistelrooy’s time in charge comes from the statistics provided by Opta. Under his leadership, Leicester managed to score just 17 goals in 25 matches — two fewer than Van Nistelrooy himself netted in his first 25 Premier League games for Manchester United back in the 2001–02 season.

To make matters worse, the club etched its name into the wrong kind of history books. Leicester became the first team across all four top divisions of English football to lose nine consecutive home games without scoring — a record no club would ever wish to own.
