Max Verstappen Snatches Pole from British Stars at Silverstone
Max Verstappen delivered a dramatic late lap to claim pole position for the British Grand Prix, edging out a trio of home favourites in a tense and unpredictable qualifying session at Silverstone.
The reigning Formula 1 World Champion clocked a blistering 1:24.892 on his final run, despite earlier complaints about the setup of his Red Bull. The Dutchman pulled a classic Verstappen performance out of the bag when it mattered most — silencing any doubts about the car’s pace.
Starting alongside him on the front row will be Oscar Piastri in the McLaren, who had looked strong all session but made a crucial mistake on his fastest lap, ending up just +0.103 seconds off pole.
The second row is all-British, with Lando Norris (McLaren) and George Russell (Mercedes) lining up third and fourth respectively. Just behind them is another local hero — seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who qualified fifth in his Ferrari.
One of the standout stories from qualifying was young Brit Oliver Bearman, who put in a sensational performance to qualify eighth for Haas. The 19-year-old continues to impress in his rookie season.
