Germany Clinch Final UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 Semi-Final Spot
Germany are through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 after a nail-biting victory over France in a quarter-final clash that had everything – an early red card, a missed penalty, and a penalty shootout that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Despite going down to ten players in just the 13th minute – when Sara Doorsoun-Hendrich was shown a straight red card – the Germans displayed incredible resilience. Moments later, Grace Geyoro capitalized on the advantage and gave France the lead with a close-range finish in the 15th minute.
But Germany were not done yet. Just ten minutes later, midfielder Sydney Lohmann-Nüsken leveled the score with a precise strike, making it 1-1 and shifting momentum back towards the resilient Germans.
The drama continued after the break. Nüsken had the chance to put Germany ahead from the penalty spot midway through the second half, but her effort was saved by French goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.
After 120 minutes of intense action, the score remained locked at 1-1. The match went to penalties, and it was Germany who held their nerve better – edging out France 6-5 in the shootout to book a spot in the semi-finals.
