The draw for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League was held on <b>Monday, July 21

The draw for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League was held on Monday, July 21, setting up potential blockbuster clashes ahead of the new European season. Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk could enter the competition at this stage — but only if they get past Turkish powerhouse Beşiktaş in the previous round.

Should Shakhtar Donetsk overcome Beşiktaş, they will then face the loser of the tie between Rangers FC (Scotland) and Panathinaikos (Greece) — a high-profile pairing that guarantees a stern test either way.

There is also a slim possibility that Dynamo Kyiv could find themselves in the Europa League third qualifying round. For that to happen, the Ukrainian club would need to suffer a shock exit in the Champions League second qualifying round at the hands of Malta’s Ħamrun Spartans.

All ties in the Europa League third qualifying round are scheduled for August 7 and 14.
