England are the first team to book their place in the final

The UEFA Women’s European Championship is heading into its grand finale — and England are the first team to book their place in the final after a thrilling 2–1 victory over Italy in the semi-finals.

It was far from smooth sailing for the Lionesses. Italy took an early lead and looked poised to pull off an upset. But England, true to their resilient tournament form, turned up the pressure in the second half, launching wave after wave of attacks. Their persistence paid off in added time, when they finally grabbed the equaliser to force extra time.

The drama didn’t end there. Deep into the second period of extra time, England found the breakthrough, scoring the decisive goal that sent them into the final — another comeback win to add to their growing collection in this tournament.

The second finalist will be decided tonight in Zurich, where Germany face off against Spain in what promises to be a heavyweight clash. The UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final is set for Sunday, 27 July.
