Aston Villa and Newcastle United played out a tense 0-0 draw in their opening fixture of the new Premier League season at Villa Park.

Despite Alexander Isak absence, Newcastle dominated proceedings, registering 16 shots compared to just three from the home side.

Villa's task became significantly harder in the 66th minute when defender Ezri Konsa was sent off, leaving the hosts with ten men for the final stretch of the match.
