The only goal of the game came as early as the 13th minute

Arsenal kicked off their Premier League 2025/26 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Manchester United, as an early mistake from United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır proved costly.

The only goal of the game came as early as the 13th minute at a packed Old Trafford. A corner delivery into the box caused chaos, with Bayındır failing to clear the ball under pressure. Riccardo Calafiori was quickest to react, firing home at the back post to give the Gunners the lead.

It marked Arsenal’s 31st goal from a corner since the start of the 2023/24 season — by far the most in English football during that span, underlining the North London club’s set-piece threat.

Manchester United, now under the guidance of new head coach Rúben Amorim, created several promising chances but were either let down by poor finishing or denied by an excellent display from David Raya in the Arsenal goal.
