Liverpool have been dealt an early-season injury setback as new signing Jeremie Frimpong has suffered a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for several weeks, according to head coach Arne Slot.

The Dutchman confirmed that Frimpong will definitely miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United, raising concerns about the club’s depth at right-back.

Frimpong was forced off during the season opener against AFC Bournemouth, cutting short what had been a promising debut. His injury now leaves Liverpool dangerously short in a key defensive position.

Veteran defender Joe Gomez is still in recovery and not yet ready to return to full training, while young full-back Conor Bradley has only just resumed team sessions following his own fitness issues.
