Russell Wins in Singapore as McLaren Clinch Constructors' Championship
George Russell delivered a flawless drive to take victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, leading from pole to chequered flag for Mercedes, while McLaren sealed the F1 Constructors' Championship after a tense and dramatic race under the lights.
Russell held off a strong challenge from Max Verstappen at the start and controlled the pace throughout, never looking threatened as he crossed the line for his second career Grand Prix win.
Behind him, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had to settle for second, while the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished third and fourth, respectively — enough to mathematically secure the Constructors’ title for the Woking-based team.
However, it wasn’t without drama. Norris and Piastri made contact in the opening laps, a near-catastrophic moment that could have taken both out of the race. Thankfully, both cars survived — but with the Drivers' Championship still on the line between them, tensions inside McLaren may only just be heating up.
