Giovanni Simeone downs parent club Napoli as Torino claim shock Serie A win
Giovanni Simeone came back to haunt his parent club as the Argentine striker scored the decisive goal in Torino’s surprise 1-0 victory over reigning champions Napoli in Serie A.
On loan at Torino from Napoli this season, Simeone struck in the 32nd minute with a clinical finish — but respectfully chose not to celebrate against the club that still holds his contract.
Napoli pushed hard for an equaliser, and thought they had found one deep into stoppage time when Lang put the ball in the back of the net. However, VAR ruled the goal out for a marginal offside, leaving the visitors stunned.
