Trossard strike sends Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League
Leandro Trossard was the match-winner for Arsenal as the Gunners earned a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Fulham to reclaim top spot in the Premier League.
After Manchester City had briefly overtaken them with a win earlier in the day, Mikel Arteta’s men knew they needed a response — and they delivered at Craven Cottage.
Riccardo Calafiori thought he had opened the scoring in the first half, but his goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR check. The breakthrough finally came in the 58th minute when Trossard latched onto a clever corner routine and fired home what proved to be the only goal of the game.
Later drama saw a penalty initially awarded for a foul on Bukayo Saka, only for VAR to overturn the decision. But Arsenal stayed composed, managing the final stages with maturity to secure all three points.
It’s a third consecutive defeat for Fulham, who now drop to 14th in the table, while Arsenal climb back above Manchester City — at least for now.
