Daniele De Rossi Appointed as New Genoa Head Coach

Daniele De Rossi has officially been named the new head coach of Genoa C.F.C., the club confirmed on Thursday. The Italian takes over a team featuring Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, as the Rossoblù look to turn their Serie A campaign around.
According to the club’s statement, De Rossi’s contract will run until the end of the current season. If Genoa manage to retain their place in Serie A, the deal will be automatically extended.
De Rossi replaces Patrick Vieira, who was dismissed after a poor start to the season. Just days after his departure, Genoa claimed their first league victory — a 2–1 win over Sassuolo — moving up to 18th in the table. Notably, Ruslan Malinovskyi opened the scoring in that match, marking a strong personal performance amid the club’s struggles.
This appointment marks De Rossi’s return to management following his brief spell with AS Roma last season, where he was dismissed in September. The former Italy international will now aim to stabilize Genoa’s form and guide them out of the relegation zone.
