Manchester United avoided defeat in a pulsating finale against Tottenham on Saturday, as both teams scored deep into stoppage time to share the points — 2:2.

After a cautious and uneventful opening half, the visitors took the lead on 32 minutes. In-form Bryan Mbeumo rose between two Spurs defenders to head the ball into the near top corner — 0:1. The goal gave United hope of starting a new winning run after a mixed spell of results.

Tottenham came alive after the break, pressing high and forcing United to defend with numbers. Their pressure paid off in the 84th minute when substitute Mathys Tel turned sharply inside the box and fired home from close range to make it 1:1.

The real drama, however, came in added time. In the 91st minute, Odobert struck from 20 yards, and a deflection off Richarlison’s head sent the ball past Lammens into the far bottom corner — 2:1. The stadium erupted, but United found one last response. From a 96th-minute corner, Matthijs de Ligt rose highest at the far post to nod home the equaliser — 2:2.

Both sides now go two games without a win and sit on 18 points each, risking further ground on the Premier League leaders.
