Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan star defender of PSG, has been crowned the CAF African Player of the Year 2025. He edged out fellow contenders Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen, claiming the award despite suffering an ankle injury in a match against Bayern Munich on November 4.

In a moment that instantly went viral, Hakimi arrived at the ceremony in Rabat on a scooter to avoid putting weight on his injured left ankle — yet the setback did nothing to stop him from lifting Africa’s most prestigious individual football honour.

The 2024/25 season was nothing short of spectacular for the Moroccan full-back. He won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the Coupe de France and the Ligue 1 title, achievements that set him apart from even the strongest competitors.
