Augsburg Dismiss Sandro Wagner After Just Five Months in Charge

FC Augsburg have parted ways with head coach Sandro Wagner after only five months at the helm, with the club announcing the decision as a mutual agreement despite Wagner’s contract running until 2028.
According to the club’s hierarchy, last weekend’s defeat to Hoffenheim made it clear that the team lacked the confidence and stability needed to turn the season around. Augsburg currently sit 14th in the Bundesliga and possess the league’s worst defensive record, conceding 27 goals in 12 matches.
Wagner himself admitted that the planned rebuild failed to produce the desired impact and that the side had struggled to implement his ideas on the pitch.
In the interim, Manuel Baum, who previously managed Augsburg between 2016 and 2019, will take over first-team duties as the club begins its search for a long-term solution.
