Bundesliga Final Day: European Qualification Secured as Relegation Drama Unfolds

The curtain has officially fallen on another Bundesliga season, with the final round of matches confirming the clubs heading for European competition and those suffering the agony of relegation.
As expected, German giants Bayern Munich secured their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, alongside Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and surprise package Stuttgart. All four sides will enter Europe’s premier competition directly from the league phase.
Stuttgart’s qualification stands out as one of the stories of the season, capping a remarkable campaign that exceeded expectations and re-established the club among Germany’s elite.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim and reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen booked their spots in the UEFA Europa League, also entering from the main league stage.
Only one German club will begin its European journey in qualification rounds. That honour goes to Freiburg, who secured a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers after a tense battle for the final continental ticket.
At the other end of the table, the final whistle brought heartbreak for Heidenheim and St. Pauli, both of whom were relegated directly from the Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg still have one final chance to preserve their top-flight status. The club will now face a relegation play-off against the team finishing third in the 2. Bundesliga.
That opponent has yet to be determined, with the promotion race producing incredible late-season tension. Elversberg, Hannover and Paderborn remain locked level on points heading into the final round, setting up a dramatic conclusion in Germany’s second division.
