Newcastle - Chelsea 2:2

The Premier League weekend burst into life with an entertaining showdown between Newcastle United and Chelsea, as two of English football’s heavyweights shared the spoils in a dramatic 2–2 draw.

The hosts made a blistering start. Nick Woltemade stunned the visitors by firing Newcastle United into a commanding two-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes, capitalising on early pressure and a lively St James’ Park atmosphere.

Chelsea, however, showed resilience after the break. Captain Reece James dragged his side back into contention with a superbly struck free-kick, curling the ball precisely into the corner beyond the reach of the goalkeeper. The equaliser soon followed, as Joao Pedro kept his composure in a one-on-one situation, punishing a costly defensive error to level the score.

Late on, Newcastle United had a golden opportunity to claim all three points. Harvey Barnes met a dangerous cross from the right flank, but from a promising position he agonisingly bent his effort just wide of the post.
