Fiorentina’s Winning Run Ends Almost Before It Began

Parma - Fiorentina 1:0

Fiorentina’s brief surge of optimism was quickly brought to a halt as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Parma in Serie A.

There was little to smile about for the visitors. Following the loss at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, Fiorentina remain rooted near the bottom of the Serie A table, with their away form a growing concern. The Viola have collected just three points on their travels all season — a statistic that continues to haunt them.

< p>The decisive moment came just after the restart. In the 48th minute, Oliver Sorensen struck from close range, leaving David De Gea with no chance. It was a landmark moment for the Danish midfielder, who celebrated the first Serie A goal of his career.

Fiorentina responded with increased urgency and dominated large stretches of the second half. They unleashed 15 shots in total after the break, pushing higher up the pitch and applying sustained pressure. However, clear-cut chances proved elusive, and Parma’s defence held firm.

As a result, the emphatic 5-1 win over Udinese in the previous round remains the only real bright spot in what has otherwise been a frustrating league campaign for Fiorentina.
