Fourth Straight Win: Liverpool Settle It in Two Minutes Against Wolverhampton

Liverpool made it four Premier League victories in a row with a hard-fought 2-1 win over bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers, doing the damage in a devastating two-minute spell just before half-time.

Arne Slot’s side were made to work for the points, but their quality told late in the first half. On 41 minutes, Ryan Gravenberch opened the scoring, before Florian Wirtz struck just a minute later to double the advantage and put Liverpool firmly in control.

The second goal carried extra significance. It was Wirtz’s first ever goal in a Liverpool shirt — and one that ultimately proved decisive. Despite being firmly second-best for long spells, Wolves refused to fold.

The visitors pulled one back in the 51st minute when Hugo Bueno found the net, reigniting the contest and forcing Liverpool into a more cautious, controlled approach for the remainder of the match.

Statistics underline just how long the breakthrough had been coming for Wirtz. The German midfielder scored with his 21st shot in the Premier League, having gone goalless in his first 16 league appearances — patience finally rewarded.

For Wolverhampton Wanderers, the misery continues. The defeat extends their losing run to 11 consecutive matches, with just two points collected all season — a grim picture at the foot of the table.
