British heavyweight boxing star has been injured following a serious road traffic accident in Nigeria

British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua has been injured following a serious road traffic accident in Nigeria. The incident occurred on Monday morning on the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, one of the country’s main transport arteries. According to official reports, two people were killed as a result of the crash.

Authorities from the Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the collision. Witness accounts and local media reports indicate that a Lexus SUV, carrying Joshua, collided with a stationary truck parked on the roadside. A second vehicle, a Mitsubishi Pajero, which was travelling behind, was also caught up in the incident.

Eyewitness Adeniyi Orodjo told local newspaper The Punch that Anthony Joshua was seated in the rear of the Lexus, directly behind the driver. Four people were inside the vehicle at the time, while a separate car carrying the boxer’s security detail was following closely behind.

Details regarding the severity of Joshua’s injuries have not been fully disclosed, but the incident has sent shockwaves through both the boxing world and the wider sporting community.
