Malen’s Dream Debut and Dybala’s Class: Roma See Off Torino Away from Home

AS Roma strengthened their grip on fourth place in the Serie A table with a convincing 2–0 away victory over Torino, opening up a gap to Juventus in the race for Champions League qualification. The spotlight, however, firmly belonged to new signing Donyell Malen, who was handed a surprise start and delivered an immediate impact.

The Dutch forward wasted no time showing his quality. From the opening minutes, Malen combined fluently with Paulo Dybala, injecting pace, movement and creativity into Roma’s attack. His energy and understanding with the Argentine were a constant problem for the Torino defence.

Roma thought they had taken the lead on 23 minutes when Malen found the net, only for VAR to intervene and rule the goal out for offside. It proved to be only a brief delay. Just three minutes later, Dybala slid a perfectly weighted pass through the lines, and Malen made no mistake — calmly finishing to open his Serie A account in style.

After the break, it was time for Dybala himself to take centre stage. The World Cup winner doubled Roma’s advantage with a moment of pure class.

The closing stages also brought another positive note for the visitors, as youngster Robinho Vaz made his senior debut. Roma saw out the match with authority, securing a clean sheet and three valuable points.
