West Ham - Sunderland 3:1

West Ham United took a significant step towards securing their Premier League status with a convincing 3–1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

The win marked a rare moment of momentum for the London club. West Ham recorded their second consecutive league victory — only the second time they have managed that feat this season — and extended their winning run across all competitions to three matches. The outcome was largely settled before half-time, as the hosts stormed into a commanding three-goal lead.

The breakthrough came when Crysencio Summerville finished off a pinpoint delivery from Jarrod Bowen. Moments later, the West Ham captain doubled the advantage himself, calmly converting from the penalty spot. The third goal was the standout moment of the half: Mateusz Fernandes reacted quickest after a blocked effort and unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the box, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The goal and assist took Jarrod Bowen to 103 direct goal involvements in the Premier League — a new all-time club record for West Ham United, underlining his importance at a crucial stage of the season.

Sunderland showed more intent after the break and managed to pull one back. A well-worked move involving Habib Diarra and Nordy Mukiele ended with Brian Brobbey finding the net, offering a brief glimmer of hope for the visitors.

However, the damage had already been done. The victory moves West Ham closer to Nottingham Forest in 17th place, with the Hammers now sitting just two points adrift of safety. With confidence finally building, belief is returning at the London Stadium that survival is firmly back within reach.
