Sporting CP - Bodø/Glimt 5:0

On the eve of this decisive night, Rui Borges promised something extraordinary at the Estádio José Alvalade—and Sporting CP delivered in breathtaking fashion. After a disastrous 0–3 defeat in Norway against Bodø/Glimt, few gave the Lisbon side a real chance. What followed, however, was nothing short of a footballing miracle.

Driven by intensity, belief, and relentless attacking football, Sporting CP dominated proceedings for the full 120 minutes, dismantling Bodø/Glimt with a commanding 5–0 victory to overturn the aggregate deficit and book their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The pressure was immediate and suffocating. From the opening whistle, the hosts pinned their Norwegian opponents deep inside their own half. The breakthrough arrived in the 34th minute, as Gonçalo Inácio rose highest to power home a header from a corner, igniting belief inside a roaring stadium.

After the break, Pedro Gonçalves doubled the lead with a composed finish, bringing the aggregate scoreline within touching distance. Moments later, Luis Suárez calmly converted from the penalty spot to make it 3–0 on the night, forcing the tie into extra time.

By then, Bodø/Glimt were visibly shaken, their earlier composure replaced by costly mistakes and defensive frailty. Maximiliano Araújo capitalised early in extra time, netting the fourth goal in the 92nd minute to complete the comeback. The final blow came in dramatic fashion, as Rafael Nel struck in the dying seconds of the second extra-time period, sealing an unforgettable 5–0 triumph.
