Ronaldo’s Coronation Delayed as Al-Nassr Surrender Title-Clenching Victory

Al-Nassr were seconds away from sealing the league title in dramatic fashion, only for a heartbreaking late mistake to deny them victory against fierce rivals Al-Hilal in one of the most intense clashes of the season.
The highly anticipated Saudi Pro League showdown appeared to be heading towards a historic night for Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates after Mohamed Simakan fired the hosts into the lead during the first half. From that point on, Al-Nassr controlled large spells of the game, showing composure and confidence with the championship seemingly within touching distance.
Cristiano Ronaldo once again proved why he remains the face of global football. The Portuguese superstar constantly troubled the Al-Hilal defence with his movement, pressing and leadership, driving his side forward throughout the contest. When he was substituted in the 85th minute, the home crowd rose to applaud their captain, convinced the title was all but secured.
But football can be brutally unforgiving.
Without their talisman on the pitch, Al-Nassr lost concentration at the worst possible moment. Deep into stoppage time, goalkeeper Bento inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, silencing the stadium and handing Al-Hilal a dramatic equaliser in the 98th minute.
