Vincenzo Montella Sacked by Turkey After Nations League Collapse

The Turkish Football Federation has decided to part ways with head coach Vincenzo Montella following a disastrous start to the new UEFA Nations League campaign.
The 52-year-old Italian will formally leave his position once the federation pays the compensation stipulated in his contract. The severance package amounts to five monthly salaries, worth just under €1 million in total.
Turkey have lost all four of their matches in the current Nations League campaign. They were beaten 1-0 by France, suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Italy, lost 3-0 to Belgium and then fell to another 3-1 defeat against Italy.
With no points from four games, Turkey sit bottom of Group A1 and have no chance of reaching the play-off stage. The results have left Montella under mounting pressure and ultimately brought his tenure to an end.
