Atletico Madrid moved to the summit of La Liga after securing a convincing 2-0 victory away to Levante in the 11th round of the Spanish league season. The result puts Atletico one point ahead of Barcelona in the title race.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 36th minute. Grimaldo raced through on goal from a tight angle and unleashed a powerful strike into the near top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with little chance.

Atletico Madrid doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute. Giuliano Simeone found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and showed impressive composure to finish in style, giving the visitors breathing space.

The scoreline could have been even more emphatic. Atletico had two further goals ruled out for offside, while Lee Kang-in struck the crossbar. Nevertheless, the visitors had done enough to secure all three points.
