Andriy Lunin: The game against Iceland could not have been easy
Ukraine national team goalkeeper Andriy Lunin shared his opinion about his team's performance after the victory over Iceland in the final of the Euro-2024 qualifying play-off.
Serhiy Rebrov's team conceded first in today's match, but managed to turn the game after the break with two accurate shots from outside the penalty area by Victor Tsygankov and Mykhailo Mudryk - 2:1.
"This match could not have been easy, - said Lunin. - Everyone perfectly understood what kind of game it was, what kind of opponent it was. However we start playing at 100-120 percent only when we concede. I think we should start playing like this from 0-0, but of course the final result is the most important.
Iceland's goal? There was such a bit of chaos. Gudmundsson found himself among three or four football players and broke through - we were a little under-performing in pressing, tried to block the shot and I could not see the ball well. I think we have no right to concede such goals."
At Euro-2024, the national team of Ukraine will play in the group with the teams of Romania, Slovakia and Belgium.
