FIFA

With players increasingly voicing concerns over FIFA and UEFA's escalating scheduling demands, the looming threat of a strike has spurred FIFA to take decisive action.

FIFA announced the creation of a Task Force on Player Welfare, a move designed to foster global dialogue with stakeholders across all levels of football. This task force will prioritize strategies to establish effective player safeguards, addressing workload concerns from operational, medical, regulatory, and legal perspectives. The group’s core mission includes crafting guidelines based on recent research into the physical and mental health of players.

Veteran football figure Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development since 2019, will lead the task force. Wenger, respected for his diplomatic approach, will be joined by representatives from FIFA member associations, confederations, FIFPRO, the European Club Association, and the World Leagues Forum.
