Monza have quickly decided on the successor to Alessandro Nesta

Monza have quickly decided on the successor to Alessandro Nesta, who was sacked yesterday because of dissapointing results in 2024/25 Serie A. According to the official website, 38-year-old Salvatore Bocchetti became the new head coach of the Italian championship outsider.

His paths have not crossed with Monza before. As a coach, he worked at Verona - from youth team to the first team. As a player, he was in Milan, who rented him for a season - that was the peak of Bocchetti's career.

With Monza he signed a contract until 2027. Bocchetti will have a difficult task to start with - to pull the team from the bottom of the standings, where it is hopelessly hanging on, lagging behind everyone.
