AS Roma is set to appoint a new head coach next year, and speculation is already rife in the Italian media. The three leading candidates are Carlo Ancelotti (currently with Real Madrid), Gian Piero Gasperini (Atalanta), and the experienced yet currently unemployed Massimiliano Allegri, a long-time manager of Juventus.

Interestingly, interim coach Claudio Ranieri is playing a role in the selection process. As per the terms of his contract, Ranieri agreed not only to stabilize the team during a turbulent period but also to lay the groundwork for a new era. Once he steps aside, Ranieri will transition into a senior advisory role, assisting the club’s owner on all sporting matters.

Roma currently finds itself in a challenging position. Instead of competing for a Champions League spot, the club languishes in 10th place in Serie A, with just 19 points from 17 matches. The new manager will have the daunting task of lifting the team out of its slump and restoring its status as a top contender in Italian football.

Will it be Ancelotti’s experience, Gasperini’s tactical acumen, or Allegri’s proven success that leads Roma into its next chapter? The coming months will reveal the answer.
