Oleksandr Zinchenko

In a surprising twist, Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to leave Arsenal by the end of next week, with Borussia Dortmund emerging as his most likely destination. According to reports from The Telegraph, the German club has shifted its focus to the Ukrainian defender after failing to secure other targets.

Dortmund had previously been linked with Renato Veiga from Chelsea to bolster their left-back position, but the Portuguese player’s agreement with Juventus has forced the Bundesliga side to pivot. Now, Borussia Dortmund is fully concentrated on signing Zinchenko, with Ben Chilwell reportedly as a backup option if negotiations fall through.

Preliminary talks between Dortmund and Zinchenko’s representatives have already taken place, with key terms reportedly agreed upon. While Arsenal is not standing in the player’s way, they are insisting on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for €20 million.

Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, has been a versatile asset for the Gunners, capable of playing both as a left-back and in midfield. However, his playing time has been inconsistent this season, prompting speculation about his future.

For Borussia Dortmund, securing Zinchenko would address a key area of need as they aim to strengthen their squad for domestic and European competitions. As the transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on whether this deal crosses the finish line.
