Auxerre extended their frustrating winless run

Auxerre extended their frustrating winless run in Ligue 1 with a 1-1 draw against Saint-Étienne. The match, played at Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps, saw both goals scored in the first half, leaving Auxerre still searching for their first victory in the French top flight this season.

The hosts took the lead in the 27th minute thanks to a stunning strike from Amed Traoré. The midfielder curled a beautiful shot from outside the box into the top left corner, leaving the Saint-Étienne goalkeeper with no chance. However, Auxerre couldn’t hold onto their advantage for long.

Just before halftime, Saint-Étienne equalized in chaotic fashion. A series of deflections in the box eventually sent the ball trickling into the net, much to the dismay of the home fans. Despite their efforts, neither team could find a winner in the second half, and the match ended in a share of the points.
