Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette will leave Olympique Lyonnais at the end of the season as a free agent, bringing his storied chapter with the French club to a close.

The 33-year-old forward rejoined Lyon in 2022 and spent three seasons back at the club where he first made his name. Over the course of his career in Lyon colours, Lacazette made 390 appearances, scoring 199 goals and providing 55 assists.

A Lyon Icon Bids Farewell

Lacazette’s journey began with Lyon’s senior team back in 2009, before moving to Arsenal in 2017, where he spent five years. His return to the banks of the Rhône was seen as a homecoming — and he continued to deliver, both as a leader and a goalscorer.

This season, the French striker scored 13 goals and added 2 assists in 29 matches, once again proving his value in front of goal.

Champions League Dream Still Alive

Under head coach Paulo Fonseca, Lyon remain in the race for Champions League qualification heading into the final round of the Ligue 1 season. The club sits three points off the pace and needs a victory, combined with defeats for Nice, Strasbourg, and Lille, to snatch a top-four finish.
