Barcelona has expressed interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, one of the standout performers of the season with 17 goals in 22 Premier League matches. The club is eager to complete the deal quickly before the Swedish forward's price tag becomes unaffordable for the cash-strapped Catalan giants.

According to Sport, Barcelona reached out to Newcastle just before the New Year, signaling their intent to acquire the 25-year-old forward at the end of the season. However, Newcastle has now valued Isak at over £100 million, which presents a significant hurdle for Barcelona, who are facing serious financial difficulties. Despite this, the Catalans are looking for additional ways to make the deal work, including the possibility of offloading a couple of players from their squad.

If the deal for Isak falls through, Barcelona has two more affordable alternatives in mind: Luis Díaz from Liverpool and Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig.
